History
Vibration Associates was founded in 1975 by Adam C. Carney. Adam was an MSEE graduate of the Polytechnic Institute of New York. Prior to the start of Vibration Associates, he worked for AT&T Bell Labs where he was responsible for analysis and correction of noise and vibration problems at company and customer facilities. Vibration Associates first specialized in vibration analysis and balancing in the marine industry but soon expanded into the industrial manufacturing and commercial HVAC sectors as well. In 1990, Adam C. was joined full-time by his son, Adam S. Carney. Together, they built a strong customer base among industrial and commercial facilities throughout northern New Jersey and the New York City area. Adam C. remained the full-time lead member of the company up until his death in 1998.
Now leading member Adam S. Carney studied computer sciences at Drexel University and holds a BSME from Rutgers University where he graduated with highest honors in 1990. Adam has nearly 30 years experience in all phases of predictive maintenance. During his tenure at Vibration Associates, he has developed acquisition, analysis and reporting software for in-house use, distribution to customers and for instrument manufacturers. He has analyzed mechanical and structural noise and vibration for the purposes of predictive maintenance, fault diagnosis, failure analysis and resonance and acceptance testing. Adam is a member of the Vibration Institute and attained a Category 3 certification in 1999.
Associate member John Hartman joined Vibration Associates in 2015 and has attained a Category 2 certification through experience and online training by the Mobius Institute. John has attained proficiency in field vibration analysis, in-place balancing and laser alignment.
